On Thursday 16 July 2026, we are opening the doors of Cumberland View Retirement Village in Wheelers Hill and inviting you to come in from the cold. From 11am to 3pm, the village will be at its welcoming best – warm soup on, live music playing, and friendly faces ready to show you around.
If you have been quietly wondering what retirement village life actually looks like, this is the most relaxed and honest way to find out.
A genuine afternoon out
This is not a sales presentation. It is a proper afternoon – the kind worth making the trip for. Here is what we have planned:
- Light refreshments including soup, hot chocolate, tea and coffee, perfect for a winter’s day
- Live music with Freddy Gulino creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere throughout
- Lucky door prizes for all attendees
- Guided bus tours of the village every 45 minutes
- A locally made pop-up shop featuring gifts, winter essentials and homemade condiments
The pop-up shop alone is worth the visit – a lovely way to pick up something special while you explore.
Meet the people who actually live here
One of the most valuable things about visiting Cumberland View is the chance to speak with our neighbours – the people who call this place home. They will be on hand throughout the afternoon, happy to share what they love about village life and answer the kinds of questions that only someone who actually lives here can answer.
Our team will also be available to walk you through the practical side of things – costs, contracts, what daily life looks like, and how we can help make any transition as smooth as possible.
34 acres, single-level homes and greenery as far as you can see
Cumberland View is set across 34 peaceful acres in Wheelers Hill, filled with established gum trees and beautifully maintained gardens. All of our homes are single-level – no stairs, no hidden obstacles, just comfortable independent living in a setting designed with this stage of life genuinely in mind.
The village is also close to major medical facilities including Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital, Cabrini Hospital Malvern and Jessie McPherson Private Hospital, with an onsite village nurse available daily and an onsite home care team for those who need a little extra support. It is reassurance that is there when you need it, and quietly in the background when you do not.
Who this open day is for
This afternoon is open to anyone who is curious – whether you are actively looking, just starting to explore, or attending on behalf of a parent or family member. There is no pressure and no obligation. It is simply a genuine opportunity to see the village, ask your questions, and get a real feel for whether Cumberland View could be right for you.
Cumberland View is home to many who made the move from across Melbourne – Including Mordialloc, Seaford, Wheelers Hill, Glen Waverley, Mount Waverley, Mulgrave, Clayton, Rowville and beyond.
